What do I do with my spare time ? ...
Dancing
|
For a while, Lesley and I could be found most Monday evenings up at the church hall, learning to trip the Light Fantastic at our ballroom dancing class.
Well actually, we never did do the Light Fantastic -- I think that's another kind of dancing; but we did, over the sourse of four or five years, learned to waltz, quickstep, tango, cha-cha, rumba, foxtrot, samba, and probably one or two others I've forgotten.
Our teachers were Mark and Shannah, and we can thoroughly recommend their classes -- see the Dancebasics web site.
We've rather got out of the habit, lately, but still like to attend the occassional social dance.

Church
|
Lesley and I are fairly active in our local parish church.
As a Reader, I'm often involved in the Sunday services, and from time to time we take part in group meetings, sometimes as hosts or leaders.
There have been a number of Alpha courses run at our church in the last few years, which we have helped with in one way or another, and I've worked with follow-up groups, helping new or renewed Christians to explore the basics of their faith.
I'm also on the Church Council.

Cameras
|
I'm interested in cameras that date from the days before whiz-bang technology did it all for you with electronics.
I have quite a few in my collection -- upwards of 70 at the last count, which is quite modest, as collections go.
Cataloguing my collection is another ongoing but seriously incomplete project, like this web site! -- eventually, I may include the whole thing online, but for the moment you can see a few in My Camera Collection

Motoring
|
My chief interest is my MX-5, which is and ongoing project. I've also had a Honda S2000 for a while. Our everyday car is presently a Hond Civic Type-S.
I'm also taking up marshalling at Oulton Park this year.
I subscribe to Classic & Sports Car magazine, which pretty much sums up my interests.

Holidays
|
We've reached a stage (actually, been there some time!) where we no longer crave excitement (did we ever?), or feel compelled to explore Strange New Worlds -- in fact we're probably pretty boring.
Our holiday pattern for the past several years has been: Lundy in May/June, Menorca in September, and Grasmere in the spring, and the occassional trip to Paris.
There are, of course, endless pictures, which one day I will organize -- you can see a few of them in Holiday Snaps
